Androgynus during the past 15 days; the other sample was produced by another case who had ingested 3, 000 g of S. androgynus during the past 20 days. No suspicious chemical agent was found in these two samples except for caffeine and indomethacin in the sample that was produced by the vendor, hi late July, after the outbreak had been covered by the mass media, the Bureau of Food Sanitation also examined five samples of S. androgynus vegetable and two samples of S. androgynus uncooked juice produced by vendors which were obtained from northern, central, and southern Taiwan ; . Laboratory testing revealed no papaverine or any other suspicious chemical except for the presence of unknown alkaloids Dr. D. H. Hsieh, Bureau of Food Sanitation, personal communication, 1996 ; . Our finding suggested that patients who consumed 5. androgynus dishes or juice made by vendors have a greater chance of developing BO syndrome than those who consumed homemade S. androgynus dishes or juice adjusted OR 2.5, p 0.08 ; . However, this might be the result of selection bias of self-referred patron controls since this group of controls probably pay more attention to their health and possibly are more inclined to make 5. androgynus food themselves. Additionally, we cannot rule out the possibility that some of the unethical vendors might have added supplements to the S. androgynus juice, which could have produced a synergistic effect and have promoted the development of BO syndrome. If we assumed that insomnia was induced by caffeine supplement, our results showed that insomnia occurred in 51.8 percent of cases and 48.1 percent of serf-referred patron controls. It is intriguing to note that the rate of insomnia in the cases and controls who made the uncooked 5. androgynus juice themselves was 50.9 percent, which was not statistically different from the rate 47.4 percent ; of the patients who bought the uncooked S. androgynus juice from vendors. It is our speculation that some unidentified constituents of S. androgynus, not only supplements added by vendors, may be responsible for the pathogenesis and clinical symptoms. The dose-response relation was clearly demonstrated between the total quantity of S. androgynus consumption and BO syndrome but was not established between the average daily consumption and BO syndrome in our study. This suggested that S. androgynus patrons ingested almost the same S. androgynus amount per day as cases ingested. If they had not been persuaded to interrupt ingesting S. androgynus, they would have accumulated enough S. androgynus and would have developed BO syndrome the following day. A total of two alleged S. androgynusrelated deaths were observed in our hospital. Additionally, it is also interesting to note that there were five and parnate.

Shake well before using. Canadian product labeling recommends shaking the bottle for a minimum of ten seconds or until contents are resuspended. Keep out of reach of children. Semi-open system means a system where the substance is fixed in a product like antifouling coating but where it will escape to the environment during use. This is typical for most varnishes. According to their functionality in protecting the coated object, these coatings are usually exposed to weathering rain, wind, sun, variation in temperatures ; , and to physical stress like strain resulting from different expansion coefficients or abrasion by dust particles carried with the wind. Or the substances are simply released by out gassing or elution. This is the case for flexibilisers like phtalates. Another example of a semi-open system is the use of lubricants. They enter the environment through evaporation e.g. if the system is heated up ; or through leakages, especially when exposed to weathering. The use of asbestos is a typical case of a semi-open system, too. It is fixed in the construction material but will be released whenever different components rub against each other or during other forms of physical stress. Open system means that the substance or the product containing the substance is intentionally released into the environment. This is the case for all kinds of plant protection agents, e.g. for insecticides. It is inherent to the mode of functioning that substances in open systems spread. Combustion and exhausting systems are special cases of open systems. Usually, the hazardous substances are produced during the combustion process. Substitution in this case means to substitute the fuel to avoid the production of hazardous emissions. However, it is often easier to change the combustion conditions to prevent the formation of these substances. An example of the contribution of NT is the enrichment of diesel fuel with ceroxide particles. These particles serve as catalysts in the combustion chamber of the engine, thus reducing the formation of soot. In addition to the list of properties mentioned above, this categorisation helps to select those hazardous substances that have the highest hazardous potential. Attempts at substitution should be focused on these substances and pbz.

An inhibitor-stop method has been developed for the measurement of initial rates of nucleobase transport in human erythrocytes. Papaverine has previously been demonstrated to be an inhibitor of nucleobase and nucleoside transport 3 ; . In the present work, the addition of seven assay volumes of ice-cold 19 m papaverine to each transport assay was shown M to cause an instantaneous and complete 99% ; inhibitionof the influx of adenine, hypoxanthine and guanine at both high and low concentrations of permeant Figs. 1-5 ; . The relative efficacies of room temperature papaverine, icecold papaverine, and ice-cold buffer in suppressing nucleobase influx varied with permeant concentration. At high concentrations of adenine or hypoxanthine, where influx appears to be due primarily S O % ; to nonfacilitated diffusion, cold buffer was moreinhibitory than room temperature papaverine A. Fig. l ; In contrast, at low permeant concentrations, where facilitated diffusion predominates, room temperature papaverine was more inhibitory than cold buffer Fig. 1B and 2 ; . Thus, both the cold temperature and the high concentration of papaverine are necessary for complete inhibition of purine nucleobase influx which occurs concurrently by both facilitated andnonfacilitated diffusion. Although a slight influx of nucleobase could be demon.

Intracranial angioplasty with nondetachable silicone balloons and intracranial intraarterial papaverine infusion have been used in a number of institutions; however, the reported experience remains modest 1323 ; . Currently, there are no reported prospective trials for either mode of therapy, so the apparent benefits of each have yet to be proved and comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of each technique is difficult with the limited available data. This report describes our experience with the use of intracranial intraarterial papaverine in 14 patients and evaluates techniques used and efficacy.

The Group operates share option schemes, whereby options are granted to employees to acquire shares or ADSs in GlaxoSmithKline plc at the grant price, and share award schemes, whereby awards are granted to employees to acquire shares or ADSs in GlaxoSmithKline plc at no cost, subject to the achievement by the Group of specified performance targets. In 2004, the Group introduced a new share award scheme, the Restricted Share Plan, whereby awards are granted to employees to acquire shares or ADSs in GlaxoSmithKline plc at no cost after a three year vesting period. The granting of restricted share awards has replaced the granting of options to certain employees as the cost of the scheme more readily equates to the potential gain to be made by the employee. The Group operates share option schemes and savings-related share option schemes. Grants under share option schemes are normally exercisable between three and ten years from the date of grant. Grants of restricted shares and share awards are normally exercisable at the end of the three year vesting performance period. Grants under savings-related share option schemes are normally exercisable after three years' saving. Options under the share option schemes are normally granted at the market price ruling at the date of grant. In accordance with UK practice, the majority of options under the savings-related share option schemes are granted at a price 20% below the market price ruling at the date of grant. Share options awarded to the Directors and, with effect from the 2004 grant, the CET are subject to performance criteria as laid out in the Remuneration Report.
