The plasma haemoglobin was 9.7 g dl, white blood cell count 8.2 G l, plasma sodium 134 mmol l and potassium 5.3 mmol l. The blood pressure was 230 120 mmHg. Further deterioration of pre-existent impaired renal function, secondary to administration of radiocontrast, was diagnosed. Infusion of 0.9% saline solution 2 l per day ; with 100 mg of frusemide was initiated. After 2 days of such treatment, serum creatinine concentration decreased to 190 mmol l and daily urine volume increased to 1600 ml per day.
